PV ignored as he belongs to Telangana?

Telangana Rashtra Samiti leader Harish Rao remembered P.V.Narasimharao while commenting on NTR’s statue at Parliament unveiled.  He expressed his happiness for getting place for NTR in the Parliament but at the same time he also expressed his grief for completely forgetting P.V.Narasimha Rao who was the first Telugu Prime Minister who served a complete term.

Harish Rao says that due respects were not paid to PV who ran the Government when the country was facing financial crisis. Harish Rao demands that PV’s statue also should find place in the Parliament.  He alleges that even his last rites were not performed properly.

He complains that even Congress Party in the State is also turning a blind eye for that matter including Telangana Congress leaders.  He concludes connecting all this to the fact that PV Narasimha Rao belonged to Telangana.

Karnataka make AP Cong build hopes

Congress Party is faring well in Karnataka polls. As the counting is going on for the election of Karnataka Assembly, Congress Party candidates are in lead in 101 constituencies.  The results are promising to match the exit polls and other TV channels report at least in making a comeback to Congress Party if not in exact numbers as shown in the predictions.

As it looks that there is every chance to Congress to form Government on its own without any coalition, the party members are in jubilant mood and already started fire crackers.

Seeing Karnataka results, Andhra Pradesh congress leaders are also encouraged and building hopes for coming AP elections.  The Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy said on the second day of his election campaign at Karnataka that the results in Karnataka will be positive and it will indicate 2014 election results in Andhra Pradesh.

Uproar in Parliament again

Soon after Parliament proceeded to transact at 11.00 am, BJP started protest demanding resignation of the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Law Minister Aswani Kumar and Railway Minister P.K.Bansal.  In spite of the Speaker Meira Kumar’s request to calm down and to please cooperate, BJP stalled the proceedings and the Parliament was adjourned till 12.00 pm.

Rajya Sabha witnessed similar scenes with BJP demanding Manmohan Singh’s resignation and Rajya Sabha Chairman Hameed Ansari adjourned till 12.00.

Disruption in both the houses has been going on since beginning of the Budget Sessions with BJP protesting against the Government on Coal Blocks and 2G spectrum allocations and recently added P.K.Bansal’s involvement in the bribe received by his nephew.  That way demands for the resignations of the Prime Minister for the irregularities in the Coal Blocks Allocation and the Law Minister for his interference in the CBI report on the irregularities are added with P.K.Bansal’s resignation for the alleged bribe receiving through his nephew Sangla.

Last time the Union budget and the Railway budget were passed by the Government when the opposition parties walked out.  Now one more important bill is pending to be introduced in the house i.e., Food Protection Bill and opposition parties are not allowing the ruling party to introduce it.

Win here and lose there

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh congratulated Congress party leaders and workers who worked hard in Karnataka to make its win possible.  Sonia Gandhi expressed her happiness over the results.  With a clean sweep the Congress party is crossing the magic figure of 113 and heading for a thumping majority leaving BJP crest fallen.  It surely is a win for Congress Party altogether.

But it is lost in the Supreme Court.  CBI admitted in Supreme Court and the draft report of Coalgate was changed as per the suggestions of Union Law Minister Ashwani Kumar, Attorney General G.E.Vahanvati and officials of Prime Minister’s office.

The same way BJP has been demanding resignation of the Prime Minister and Law minister on the issues of coal scam and interference in the investigations of CBI.  Today Lok sabha is adjourned sine die in the uproar of criticisms and demands of the opposition party.  Their point of view is supported by the CBI’s admission in Supreme Court.

But it lost in Karnataka Assembly elections in a humiliating manner fighting for second position at least.  All the statements given by them and criticisms targeting Congress Party have failed to get the expected results for them.

Situation in the Country is neither giving satisfaction to the ruling party nor to the opposition party.  It all indicates that a third alternative may be welcomed by the people of India in next elections.

VIPs to wear traditional attire at Tirumala

Tirumal Tirupati Devastanam has taken a decision that VIPs who visit Tirumala for Darshan should be allowed if they go for Darshan in traditional attire.

This will be observed from 15th of this month.  TTD wants that the devotees should come to the temple for the darshan of the deity Balaji Venkateswara Swamy clad in the Hindu traditional clothes.  But it will be introduced step by step starting with VIPs now.

In some of the famous South Indian Temples like Tiruvananthapuram, Guruvayurappa and others, temple authorities are very particular about the clothes worn by the devotees.  Rajiv Gandhi was not allowed in Krishna Temple to go with a bullet proof waist coat and a Kurta over it.  Sonia Gandhi is not allowed in some of the temples as she belongs to other religion.  Indira Gandhi was not allowed in Puri Jagannadha temple as she married Feroz Gandhi who was a Parsi.  There are many more temples that are very strict in these things.

Compared to those temples Tirumal Tirupati Devasthanams are very liberal.  They are only asking the devotees to wear Hindu traditional clothes.

Supreme Court not happy with CBI

Supreme Court today expressed displeasure over the following.

1. The draft report was shown to political leaders.  It is not a progress report to share with others.

2. Attorney General GE Vahanvati and the Additional Solicitor Harin Rawal stated earlier that the report was not shared with any political leaders but CBI affidavit states contrary to that.

3. CBI became a parrot in a cage to sing the tune of its masters.

4. Supreme Court to inquire whether any one was shielded in the process of making changes in the draft report.

5. Ministers, SC says, can inquire the status but should not interfere in proceedings.

6. As per the affidavit of CBI, it has many masters.

7. Above all, there is no much progress in the case of Coal Block Allotment since its start.

Supreme Court made it clear that if the interference of political people will have to be checked and CBI has to be made free to investigate without pressure from any corner and SC will take suitable steps to ensure it if the things continue this way.

CAG report shows that transparent bidding process was not followed resulting in a loss to exchequer to the extent of 3340 crores of Rupees.  But Prime Minister who was looking after the coal allocations denies the allegation stating that the process was done in the manner it is supposed to be done.

State of affairs of the State

Congress MPs of the State are scheduled to meet with Congress party Vice President Rahul Gandhi at Party office in Parliament building to discuss the political state of affairs of the State.  All MPs alongwith other senior party leaders with a total number of 40, are going to participate in the meeting with Rahul Gandhi.  There is no fixed agenda for the meeting but it is scheduled for 2 hours to prolong in which MPs will talk their heart out with Rahul Gandhi.

Two days ago Gulam Nabi Azad met the MPs at Hyderabad to have advance information about what they are going to talk about. The role of Rahul Gandhi today may not be different from that of Azad to hear MPs side of the story.  The idea is to take information from AP but not to tell and the least not to give any commitments of any sort.  MPs are expected to express their feelings freely and give feed back to the party so that an assessment can be made at the Center.

The meeting is also going to assuming importance in the wake of the thumping victory of the party in the neighboring State of Karnataka.  Congress party in the State of late was having doubts about the party’s winning chances in 2014 because so many issues in the State.  But the victory in Karnataka is certain to give an upper hand to the party leaders at Center to give some firm advices at the end of the meeting requesting for a unity in the party to achieve at home what is achieved in Karnataka.

Jagan hit again by SC rejections

Supreme Court rejected YS Jagan's bail petition today.  The Supreme Court agreed with the investigating Agency CBI's plea that Jagan may influence the witnesses and may make hindrances in the investigations carried out by CBI.

Bail of Vijaya Sai Reddy is cancelled as per CBI's petition to do so.   By cancelling Vijay Sai Reddy's bail, Supreme Court ordered him to surrender before June 5th.  Vijay Sai Reddy, financial advisor of YS Jagan’s business firms and companies and Vice Chairman of Jagati Publications who was the brain behind the illegal transactions as per CBI, was arrested on 2.1.2012 and a conditional bail was sanctioned on 13th April by CBI Special Court but High Court cancelled it on 20th April and asked the lower court to conduct the hearing again.  Later he was granted bail as the time is coming close and as his daughter’s marriage is to be performed in this month, he moved the court again for bail.  But CBI filed a petition in the Supreme Court to cancel his bail and agreeing that the freedom given to Vijaya Sai Reddy may hamper the investigations.

Supreme Court also rejected bail petition of Nimmagadda Prasad who was arrested on 14th May 2012 for investing Rs.504 crores of Rupess in YS Jagan’s Companies as a gratitude to the favors received by him from YS Rajasekhara Reddy.

Supreme Court also instructed CBI to complete the investigation within 4 months from now.

Kondas' wings chopped

Konda couple loyalists to YSR family were given a shock treatment by YS Jagan.  Their supporters were suspended by YSR Congress Party.

Konda Surekha even sacrificed her ministry for the sake of YSRCP to support YS Jagan.  Konda couple is strong in Telagana to represent YSRCP in that region.  It was all ok when it was sailing smooth.  But Jagan's going to jail and other leaders' swarming in the party made Konda couple angry for their importance in the party is coming down.  A cold unhappy atmosphere started hovering over them and even the party leadership was evidently aware of the developments.

The incident of Kondas' supporters locking the office of YSRCP in Warangal District made the party heads feel it necessary to deal with them sternly and give indications that they mean business.  The party suspended the erring members of the party leaving Konda couple.  The suspended party leaders are consulting Kondas for their future action.

But Kondas themselves are not in a position to decide their future plan.  A leader without supporters is like a bird without wings.  Bird will be alive but it cannot fly.  As their supporters are removed from the party they cannot remain in the party as they will not be valued as they were before.  As per the information reached from known sources, Kondas are toying with an idea of joining their parent party Congress.

The leaders suspended by YSRCP incidentally belong to women wing, minority wing, trade unions and SC associations.

Plastic currency to take over?

Plastic currency to take over?

So far only bank cards are called plastic currency.  Now the term is going to extend to currency too. Reserve Bank of India is going to replace the present currency with plastic currency gradually in stages.  On an experiment basis, plastic notes in the denomination of Rs.10/- are going to be released at Kochi, Mysore, Jaipur, Bhuvaneswar and Simla.

RBI Governor Duvvuri Subbarao said in this context that plastic notes will contribute to saving of trees as paper consumption will come down to that extent.  Plastic notes also last for a longer time than that of paper notes.  They do not get polluted as paper ones.  Plastic notes also stand intact after accidentally drenched in rain or otherwise.  More over writing on the notes, tearing and joining with gum or tape will be avoided.

Only thing is we may have to replace or make changes in the existing currency counting machines to suit plastic notes counting.  For individuals it will be difficult for some time until they get used, to count with fingers when they are exchanged in the market for a purchase.

Another advantage is it will arrest fake notes movement in the market at least for some time till the technology is geared up.  As far as fake currency is concerned, mostly notes of Rs.500/- and Rs.1000/- are looked at suspiciously. Many instances of  fake notes coming out from ATMs were experienced too.  If a fake note is deposited, Bank has a responsibility to inform Police.  But Governor of RBI says that if more than four fake notes are found then only they should be complained against to the police.  It is a known fact that fake currency is in circulation and many were victimized as such notes were found in their possession.  One note can be accidental because of the careless accepting from others.  But possessing more than four notes raises an eyebrow.

Introduction of plastic notes no doubt is a wise gesture to remove counterfeits from the market and save economy and also innocent people from loss.

Babu's counter attack

While Telugu Desam Party chief Chandra Babu Naidu was at Delhi, YSR Cong Party leaders commented on him and tried to spread news that he is going to work hand in glove with Congress Party and for that matter negotiations might be going on.

Chandra Babu attacked back saying that TDP objected and fought with the corrupt mining loot deals of YSR and Gali Janardan Reddy at that time.  He also talked against Congress Party that shows the allegations on TDP to have a secret agreement with Congress are baseless.

Chandra Babu said that Congress win in Karnataka is not a real one but a technical one.  He also said that the corruptions at high levels are gradually coming to the surface one by one and it shows the inability of the Congress Party’s Governance.  He commented that only Courts are concerned about the corruptions but not the Government which is run automatically without any efforts being put into.

Congress conspiracy

YSR Congress Party's honorary president YS Vijayamma today expressed her agony for Supreme Court's decision not to give bail to her son YS Jagan.  Many leaders in the party were expecting bail to Jagan this time.  But all got disappointed for the SC's rejection of the bail petition.

YS Vijayamma says that all the suffering is only due to their opposing Congress Party.  She reminded that people who did not heed to the commands of Indira Gandhi also meted with the same treatment of arresting them as in the case of YS Jagan now.  She complained that the Congress Party is trying to win in AP also as it did in Karnataka by dividing other parties.  They see that disputes arise in other parties than Congress so that they become week and Congress can win because of it.

But, Vijayamma assures, she will stand firm and lead the party till Jagan comes out and party leaders and workers need not lose heart for any of the developments in the meanwhile.  She called everyone in the party not to lose confidence and to be courageous to face either it is local body or general elections.

Senior leaders like Konatala Ramakrishna and Jupudi Prabhakar expressed their displeasure for rejecting Jagan’s bail petition.  Konatala said that CBI is giving wrong information to the courts and that too differs from that of local courts and Supreme Court.  He questioned how CBI who is termed as a parrot in a cage just repeating Government’s words is taken into confidence and their statements are taken for granted.

Vijayamma comments that Congress and TDP merged and a conspiracy is going on to make YSR family suffer by influencing to reject the bail that is requested for.

BJP beckons Kondas

State President of Bharatiya Janata Party Kishan Reddy announced today that his party welcomes Konda couple.  Kishan Reddy said that BJP leaders at Warangal are consulting Konda couple in that matter.

In the wake of YSR Cong Party suspending Kondas supporters from the party, Kondas are reported to have been thinking of deciding their future political career.  They were considering BJP and Congress Party to chose to join with.

As Konda Surekha is a strong leader in the Telangana region, BJP seems to lean on their support as TRS is keen on fighting elections without alliance with any party.  As BJP has been campaigning with Telangana issue and also as the party actively participated in the Telangana agitation, BJP wants to have its own strong force there. BJP also has been promising that separation of the State will take place soon after BJP comes in to power.

The development in YSRCP looks to BJP as an opportunity to grab at the right moment.
