Mohanbabu's political re-entry!

Tollywood actor Mohanbabu was once an MP (Rajya Sabha). After his term expired, he literally chose to remain away from parties for many obvious reasons. Many discussions were then in the air whether Mohanbabu would join politics or not. At last today, Mohanbabu, came out with interesting lines. He has said that he would make a come back into the politics in near future!

Mr Mohanbabu has said that he had no guts to set up a party nor to earn money with that party. Nonetheless, he said he would soon declare as to which party he would join. Also, he has made it clear that he would come back to strengthen the party and not for any posts. It is known that Mohanbabu earlier had good terms with TDP. It looks like he might join TDP.

How Balayya is different from NTR

Nandamuri Balakrishna, the actor aspiring to be a politician, has been going out on behalf of the Telugu Desam Party, started by his father Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao but they are entirely different people at least based on their appearances and related ideologies.

The senior actor has not currently signed up for any movie shooting recently. There is no schedule in progress and yet he is dapper with lots of make up cream, wig and other beautification that hide his age and deglam appearance. Previously at the Basava Tarakam Memorial Cancer Hospital, he had a full wig, dyed moustaches, and the film-grade make up cream smeared all over his face. While appearance definitely affects people, overdoing it to look like a film star being a politician will hamper your chances.

Politicians are supposed to connect with people rather than appearing grand. It appears as if Balayya Babu will go into election campaigns with the same make up too. People have already formed the opinion that NBK feels older without makeup and hence will never show them his original face without any makeup. His “artificial” appearance may have a psychologically negative effect on the audience who now care about his intent rather than appearance.

NTR, his father, understood this connection early on in his political career. He was a man who attracted the masses with his powerful speeches and leadership qualities. Is Balakrishna skeptical of his own speaking ability on-stages? Is that why he is relying on the veneer of makeup cream when he is in public?

Three targets for Congress

Congress has been facing more criticism than appraisal in the past few months. Let us face the truth, there are in face people from every economic section who have been displeased with the policies of the Congress party. If the party wishes to remain in power after the 2014 general elections, it has to deal with at least three strategies.

Power shortage, scarcity of basic commodities like drinking water and high inflation of essential goods. This was revealed by a survey from the intelligence department of a private agency in Hyderabad which is not a big surprise at all. Power shortage is the most felt loss unanimously all over the state.

Three hours of no power on average per day through out the state is a huge burden. Basic amenities are poor like water supply etc. If the government cannot workout a proper strategy for the same, they should expect a gaping void in the vote bank. With the prices of day-to-day commodities rising higher to prohibitory prices has only put off the crowd who blame the government for not being able to control the prices of the most basic requirements.

The only fact that Congress is still in the fray is the Re 1 per kilo of rice scheme that has been fetching it a lot of support for the party. Even opposition parties' criticism is not stopping them from the continuation of the scheme due to its acceptance in the public. The same can be said for Indiramma housing scheme.

The people however disgruntled with the government after the fee-reimbursement scheme is no longer as attractive. With Rajiv Yuva Kiranalu, Kiran Kumar Reddy's favorite project, not being as well received, Congress has a lot of ground to cover before the next General Elections.

Bangladesh death toll rises to 149

In an unfortunate incident in Savar, Dhaka, an eight-storeyed building caved to the ground killing scores of people. With more and more dead being discovered in the debris of the buildings, the death toll has risen to 149. Several people in the ramshackle of the shopping complex are still feared trapped as rescue workers have been trying to bring them out from the pile of concrete.

The building is home to several garment factories, which has several hundred employees working in it. They were all present in the building when the building tumbled down to the floor on Wednesday. This mishap brought to the surface the deplorable and the corrupt conditions in the garment industries. Only last month, a factory fire engulfed 112 innocent workers.

These garment industries churn out the apparell for most of the megabrands in the world today. Unfortunately, the workers who suspected that the large cracks were fearsome fell prey to the reality only hours after their wild fears manifested.

Similar conditions of the construction are evident all over the city. Corrupt officials granting permissions for poorly built business complexes is not a new trend. What use is it if you have a few thousand bucks more in your pocket if it is the blood money of several hundreds?

Boston bombings: Suspect was on US intelligence radar

As the investigation proceeds, new findings have come into the picture about the infamous Boston bombings. The security agencies have found that US authorities had earlier put suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev in two different watch lists after Russian FSB reported their American counterparts about his activities way back in 2011. It is now a matter of serious concern if the US security agencies have failed to prevent the attack in spite of having prior warnings from the Russians.

Russian officials contacted the Federal Bureau of Investigation in March 2011, then reached out to the Central Intelligence Agency in September of that year, citing concerns Mr. Tsarnaev might have been associating with extremists. The FBI sources said , it interviewed Mr. Tsarnaev and conducted a threat assessment, but found nothing "derogatory" that could prompt further investigation about his later activities.

It is also reported that  at the request of the CIA, Tsarnaev was added to a broad database called Terrorist Identities Datamart Environment, which holds hundreds of thousands of names flagged by federal security agencies.
