Government formed a Group of Ministers to study how improvements can be made to make CBI autonomous.
As Supreme Court recently called CBI a caged parrot that speak only what is taught by the Government, Government took it in a serious manner to make a move in the direction of improving the conditions in the working of CBI.
As the apex court asked the Government to make a law to insulate CBI from external interferences and intrusions, Government took the first step to study it by forming a Group of Ministers headed by the Union Finance Minister R.Chidambaram.
After deliberations, the GoM will come out with the ways to strengthen the investigating agency. The observations, decisions and a draft law will be submitted to the Supreme Court on July 10th that is the next hearing on the Coal Block Allocation scam, report of CBI on which was allegedly interfered and altered by the Law Minister who is now removed from the Cabinet by the Government.
